I saw this adorable crocheted bodega basket when searching for ideas for making baskets to stow my active projects in. The pattern originally appeared in the May/June 2012 issue of Crochet Today! I have a project page on Ravelry.
I spent a few hours over the weekend sitting on the front porch knocking this out. I’m pleased with the result, and the basket is getting good use to hold my growing pile of small crochet projects.
I really liked the yarn. It’s a heavy worsted/aran weight acrylic. It has a kind of wooly feel to it, but makes a fairly neat, clean pattern. I have lots of yarn left in the skeins, so I played around with designing other baskets. These are all five or six inches across, and are serving as small project bowls in my studio.
This one I considerĀ a success. I call it “Eye Dazzler.” I plan to pick up some different colors of the Red Heart Economy yarns. When I do, I’ll crochet this one up again and post a pattern with photos. This one has become my second favorite bowl, and has gotten a lot of use for toting small items between the house and my hangout on the porch.
The yarns are Red Heart Super Saver Economy Real Teal, Ranch Red, Gold, and Carrot.
