Picnic Dinner, Friday 2014-07-11

When the weather is nice, we strive to have a picnic dinner every Friday. Generally, we pick a spot in the woods a short drive away with a good view of Flagstaff’s beautiful landscapes. Last Friday, we went to a favorite spot on top of a cinder cone near the old pumice mine. We were presented with wild flowers, interesting monsoon skies, and a not-too-shabby sunset.

Rainbow in the distant rainclouds

Rain was falling on a distant hill, with a faint rainbow visible to the right of the hill.

Sunset

Beautiful sunset at the base of the Peaks.

Sun dog?

I believe the pinkish streaks on the right side of the image may have been a sun dog (they were visible to the naked eye).
